Our Story
Hi there! I’m Alex Spencer – the guy on the left. My wife and I (not the guy on my right) have owned Spencer Window Cleaning for nine years now, and I’ve been cleaning windows for a total of 18-ish years to date.
Ever find yourself working and asking yourself, ‘This could be done better’, or ‘Why hasn’t anyone else made this?’
Seems a lot of us do.
Little do my customers know, although I’ve got air-pods in while working, they’re not playing music. It’s audio books. And sermons. And presentations. If someone’s teaching, I’m listening. So with a lot of inspiration from different authors, entrepreneurs and the like, I decided to stop waiting on other people for solutions, and started building them.
I figured the simplest problem to tackle in the window cleaning industry would be the bonnet. It tears with ease, falls off super easy, doesn’t last long, marks up interior walls once it starts falling apart…it’s just bad.
So I set off to learn CAD, and quickly found out, sometimes learning new things isn’t so simple. But in a random conversation while working security for our church, my buddy mentioned he works with CAD and offered to help. Originally he was just going to make a quick CAD for the Ladder Helmet, but I mentioned I had nearly a dozen other ideas to help improve the window cleaning industry, as well as some adjacent ones. Thus, Spencer Innovations quickly disappeared, and S&S Innovations was born.
As of 2026, we have three patents pending, and we’re talking to both a machinist and a chemist for future products. (Don’t worry, we’re not making another soap.)
